Nucleons at finite temperature.

چکیده
The nucleon mass shift is calculated using chiral counting arguments and a virial expansion, without and with the ∆. At all temperatures, the mass shift and damping rate are dominated by the ∆. Our results are compared with the empirical analysis of Leutwyler and Smilga, as well as results from heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory in the large N c (number of color) limit. We show that unitarity implies that the concepts of thermal shifts are process dependent.

Dispersion relations at finite temperature and density for nucleons and pions
We calculate the nucleonic and pionic dispersion relations at finite temperature (T ) and non-vanishing chemical potentials (μf ) in the context of an effective chiral theory that describes the strong and electromagnetic interactions for nucleons and pions. The dispersion relations are calculated in the broken chiral symmetry phase, where the nucleons are massive and pions are taken as massless...
متن کاملModifications on nucleon parameters at finite temperature
Taking into account the additional operators coming up at finite temperature, we investigate the mass and residue of the nucleon in the framework of thermal QCD sum rules. We observe that the mass and residue of the nucleon are initially insusceptible to the increase of temperature, however, after a certain temperature, they start to fall with increasing the temperature.
متن کاملAn Effective Lagrangian with Broken Scale and Chiral Symmetry IV: Nucleons and Mesons at Finite Temperature
We study the finite temperature properties of an effective chiral Lagrangian which describes nuclear matter. Thermal fluctuations in both the nucleon and the meson fields are considered. The logarithmic and square root terms in the effective potential are evaluated by expansion and resummation with the result written in terms of the exponential integral and the error function, respectively. In ...
متن کاملHot Nucleons in Chiral Soliton Models
Chiral lagrangians as effective field theories of QCD are most suitable for the study of nucleons in a hot pion gas because they contain pions and also baryons as solitons of the same action. The semiclassical treatment of the soliton solutions must be augmented by pionic fluctuations which requires renormalisation to 1-loop, and finite temperatures do not introduce new ultraviolet divergencies...

The importance of studying matter at high ρ increases as more astrophysical data becomes available from recently launched spacecrafts. The importance of high T studies derives from heavy ion data. In this paper we set up a formalism to study the nucleons and isobars with long and short range potentials non-pertubatively, bosonizing and expanding semi-classically the Feyman integrals up to one l...
متن کاملThe Delta-hole Model at Finite Temperature *
The spectral function of pions interacting with a gas of nucleons and ∆ 33-resonances is investigated using the formalism of Thermo Field Dynamics. After a discussion of the zero ∆-width approximation at finite temperature, we take into account a constant width of the resonance. Apart from a full numerical calculation, we give analytical approximations to the pionic spectral function including ...
